1. A well system comprising:
a first piece of wellsite equipment comprising an electronic storage device storing information related to the first piece of wellsite equipment; and
a monitoring and control unit comprising a look-up table of operational parameters used to configure the first piece of wellsite equipment for operation, the operational parameters corresponding to the stored information,
wherein the monitoring and control unit is configured to automatically establish electronic communication with the first piece of wellsite equipment, automatically read, through the electronic communication, the stored information from the first piece of wellsite equipment, automatically identify the first piece of wellsite equipment, automatically determine operational parameters for the first piece of wellsite equipment by referencing the identity of the first piece of wellsite equipment with the look-up table, and automatically configure, in the monitoring and control unit, the first piece of wellsite equipment for operation based on the operational parameters of the first piece of wellsite equipment in the look-up table.
