1. A combination comprising
a) at least one polypeptide or pair of polypeptides comprising i) a candidate RNA-binding domain and ii) a catalytic domain of an RNA-editing enzyme; and
b) at least one RNA comprising
i) at least one candidate cognate binding site for the candidate RNA-binding domain and
ii) a plurality of instances or occurrences of an at least one cognate substrate site for the catalytic domain:
wherein the at least one candidate cognate binding site for the candidate RNA-binding domain and the at least one cognate substrate site for the catalytic domain are not found in the same naturally-occurring RNA.
