1. A method comprising:
providing at least one autonomous transport vehicle;
providing at least one charging station on a pick floor level of a storage and retrieval system, the at least one charging station having a connection to at least one transfer station that allows transfer of items on and off the at least one autonomous transport vehicle, and the a least one charging station has an allocated and unallocated state where in the allocated state the at least one charging station is disposed for a predetermined one of the at least one autonomous transport vehicle;
communicating, with a controller in communication with more than one of the at least one autonomous transport vehicle, information related to interface between a predetermined at least one charging station and the predetermined one of the at least one autonomous transport vehicle; and
with the controller, supplying power, from at least one power supply, to the at least one charging station for charging the more than one auto transport vehicle based on at least one of interface demands of the predetermined one of the at least one autonomous transport vehicle corresponding to the predetermined one of the at least one autonomous transport vehicle interfacing the predetermined at least one charging station and on the allocated state and unallocated state.
