1. A medical device, comprising:
a shaft extending longitudinally from a proximal end to a distal end;
a handle coupled to the proximal end of the shaft and including an actuation assembly extending laterally across the handle from a first lateral end coupled to a first lateral side of the handle to a second lateral end, the actuation assembly including:
an operating member rotatably coupled to a proximal portion of the handle to deflect the distal end of the shaft operably coupled to the handle, wherein the operating member includes a slot extending therealong;
a rigid arm coupled to the operating member and comprising a locking pin rigidly connected to and extending from a first end of the rigid arm, the rigid arm including a rotation hole extending therethrough proximate the locking pin, the rotation hole defining a rotation axis, the rigid arm residing in the slot for rotation relative to the operating member between an engaged state in which a portion of the rigid arm that includes a second end of the rigid arm protrudes past a top surface of the operating member and the locking pin engages an engagement feature on an outer surface of the handle to prevent the operating member from rotating, locking the distal end of the shaft in a desired position, and a released state in which the second end of the rigid arm is rotated about the rotation axis toward the handle such that the portion of the rigid arm is within the slot, releasing the locking pin from the engagement feature permitting rotation of the operating member relative to the handle and deflection of the distal end of the shaft, wherein a length of the rigid arm is less than a length of the operating member; and
a spring configured to bias the rigid arm toward the engaged state, wherein the spring is disposed on the first lateral end of the actuation assembly.
