1. A method for storage of information, comprising:
providing a ceramic substrate of a first material;
coating the ceramic substrate with at least one layer each of a second material different from the first material; and
creating a plurality of recesses in the at least one layer by using a laser in order to encode information in the at least one layer,
wherein the plurality of recesses have different depths, and
wherein each depth corresponds to a predefined bit of information.
