A double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) that inhibits expression of a Leptinotarsa decemlineata proteasome beta 5 (PSMB5) gene, wherein a first strand of the dsRNA comprises an RNA sequence that is at least 100 nucleotides in length and is 85% to 100% complementary to the RNA encoded by SEQ ID NO: 4 or SEQ ID NO: 6.
