1. A system for modifying cells of a lung passageway of a patient, the system comprising:
a catheter comprising at least one electrode, wherein the at least one electrode is configured to be positioned within a lung passageway so as to transmit energy to an airway wall of the lung passageway; and
a generator in electrical communication with the at least one electrode, wherein the generator includes at least one energy delivery algorithm configured to provide an electric signal of the energy, wherein the energy modifies particular cells of the airway wall that remain intact so as to reduce secretion of mucus by the airway wall.
