1. A method for dynamically assigning a wireless protocol to a device, the method comprising:
monitoring information associated with the device configured to operate using a first wireless protocol, the information comprising a data rate value and a signal quality value for the device;
determining, based on the information associated with the device, that the data rate value exceeds a data rate threshold or that the signal quality value exceeds a signal quality threshold;
based on determining that the data rate value exceeds a data rate threshold or that the signal quality value exceeds a signal quality threshold, performing a measurement report for a dual connectivity signal; and
establishing a dual connectivity session between the device and the base station, wherein the dual connectivity session is established with the device based on determining that the measurement report for the dual connectivity signal associated with the base station exceeds a predetermined threshold.
