1. An apparatus comprising a processor and a memory, the apparatus further comprising computer-executable instructions stored in the memory which, when executed by the processor, cause the apparatus to:
send, to a network entity, an information element, wherein the information element comprises a first indication that the apparatus supports one or more small data procedures, wherein the first indication is comprised within a single octet of the information element;
receive, from the network entity, a second indication that the apparatus may use a first small data procedure of the one or more of the small data procedures and a third indication that uplink data is to be sent using only the first small data procedure; and
send the uplink data to the network entity using the first small data procedure.
