1. A method of operating a user equipment (UE) in a wireless network, the method comprising:
determining a first transmission power of a physical random access channel (PRACH) preamble to be used during a 2-step random access channel (RACH) procedure;
determining a second transmission power of a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmission to be used during the 2-step RACH procedure, wherein the second transmission power of the PUSCH transmission is based on the first transmission power of the PRACH preamble;
performing the 2-step RACH procedure based on the first transmission power of the PRACH preamble and the second transmission power of the PUSCH transmission, to establish a connection to the wireless network;
switching to a 4-step RACH procedure from the 2-step RACH procedure based on a determination that the PRACH preamble was successfully detected and the PUSCH transmission was falsely detected; and
performing the 4-step RACH procedure based on the first transmission power of the PRACH preamble.
