1. A method for video encoding comprising:
receiving video data; and
encoding the video data to signal decoding of the video data based on:
determining whether a reference line index signaled in a video bitstream of the encoded video data indicates a zero reference line such that:
in response to determining that the reference line index indicates the zero reference line, determining 6 most probable modes (MPMs) applicable to the intra prediction of the compressed data block; and
in response to determining that the reference line index does not indicate the zero reference line, determining 5 MPMs applicable to the intra prediction of the compressed data block, wherein the planar mode is excluded from the 5 MPMs.
