1. A method performed by a wireless device for transmitting capability information to a base station in a communications network, the method comprising:
receiving, from the base station as part of a request for capability information, an indication that segmentation of Radio Resource Control (RRC) messages is supported by the communications network for transmission of capability information; and
transmitting capability information associated with the wireless device to the base station in segments, thereby making it possible for the wireless device to transmit more capability information than one Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) data unit can contain, and wherein each segment has a maximum size corresponding to the maximum size of one PDCP data unit.
