1. A computing system comprising:
a processor configured to:
obtain performance data associated with a surgical device, wherein the surgical device is being used in a surgical procedure performed by a health care professional (HCP), and wherein the performance data further comprises self-identification (ID) information associated with the surgical device;
receive a machine learning model, wherein the machine learning model is configured to indicate a list of gathered performance data associated with authentic original equipment manufacturer (OEM) devices, and wherein the list of gathered performance data associated with the authentic OEM devices comprises at least one of a list of normal performance data, a list of catastrophic failure performance data, or a list of device failure performance data;
based on the obtained performance data, identify a performance signature associated with the surgical device, wherein to identify the performance signature comprises being configured to compare the obtained performance data to information associated with the machine learning model, wherein the information associated with the machine learning model is configured to indicate a list of capabilities associated with a list of OEM devices or a list of capabilities associated with a list of counterfeit devices;
based on the identified performance signature associated with the surgical device, determine whether the surgical device is an OEM device, wherein to determine whether the surgical device is the authentic OEM device comprises being configured to determine whether the self-identification (ID) information matches with the list of OEM devices, wherein:
based on a determination that the self-identification (ID) information matches with the list of OEM devices, the processor is configured to:
categorize the surgical device as the authentic OEM device,
determine that the obtained performance data is within a normal operation parameter associated with the authentic OEM device, wherein to determine that the obtained performance data is associated with the normal operation parameter associated with the authentic OEM device comprises being configured to compare the obtained performance data to the information associated with the machine learning model,
based on the determination that the obtained performance data is outside of the normal operation parameter associated with the authentic OEM device and based on the determination that the obtained performance data is similar to the list of catastrophic failure performance data or the list of device failure performance data, determine a potential source of error and a potential solution, and
send an alert message to the HCP, wherein the alert message comprises the potential source of error and the potential solution; and
based on a determination that the self-identification (ID) information does not match with the list of OEM devices, the processor is configured to:
categorize the surgical device as a counterfeit device,
continue to obtain the performance data associated with the surgical device;
use the obtained performance data to train the machine learning model; and
based on a condition that the identified performance data is not similar to the list of capabilities associated with the list of OEM devices, add the surgical device to the list of counterfeit devices.
