1. A method of addressing a passive matrix electronic display with a display driver integrated circuit, the method comprising:
providing a display driver integrated circuit comprising a plurality of driver outputs;
providing a passive matrix electronic display comprising:
an image area comprising:
a plurality of pixels;
a plurality of electrodes; and
wherein the plurality of electrodes is connected to the plurality of pixels and the plurality of driver outputs;
applying a common signal to at least one of the plurality of electrodes at a time using at least one of the plurality of driver outputs while applying a segment signal to each one of the other plurality of electrodes using one or more of the remaining plurality of driver outputs; and
re-applying the common signal to at least one of the plurality of electrodes using at least one of the plurality of driver outputs until each one of the plurality of pixels of the image area have been addressed, wherein the common signal is applied to each of the plurality of driver outputs connected to the plurality of pixels at least once per update of the image area.
