1. A processor-based system for automated machine-implemented customs approval, the system comprising:
one or more computer processors configured to receive machine language encoded digital item data for each of one or more items undergoing screening for customs approval, wherein the machine language encoded digital item data comprise machine language encoded binary encoded data corresponding to a description that includes information related to at least one of physical attributes, functionality, or source material of the item and one or more images;
a computer processor-based image recognition tool configured to electronically scan and detect embedded data in the one or more images for each of the one or more items and transform the detected embedded data into machine language encoded digital image meta-tags based at least in part on the detected embedded data;
a computer processor-based engine configured to enable access to, add, modify, and update rules of shippability to include new rules or modified existing rules based on previously received electronic digital item data and previously received combinations of detected embedded data, descriptions, and machine language encoded digital image meta-tags, to be utilized by the engine when determining shippability of an item;
wherein the one or more computer processors are configured to combine the detected embedded data from the computer processor-based image recognition tool with the machine language encoded digital item data description and the machine language encoded digital image meta-tags;
wherein the computer processor-based engine is configured to determine if each of the one or more items undergoing screening is shippable or not, in accordance to rules of shippability, wherein the engine further comprises a keyword-based rules engine; and
wherein the one or more computer processors are further configured to:
classify or categorize the received machine language encoded digital item data, using machine learning algorithms of a machine learning algorithm module, into one or more predefined classes or categories, wherein inputs to the machine learning algorithm module comprise keywords derived from one or more of the machine language encoded digital item data description, the machine language encoded digital image meta-tags, or combinations thereof; and
combine results of classification or categorization of each of the one or more items with the machine language encoded digital item data description, the machine language encoded digital image-meta tags, or combinations thereof for each of the one or more items for use by the keyword-based rules engine to approve or reject the item for shippability based on applied rules.
