1. A refrigerator appliance comprising:
a cabinet defining a chilled chamber;
a controller coupled to the refrigerator appliance and configured to operate one or more components of the refrigerator appliance; and
a camera assembly coupled to the cabinet and configured to monitor the chilled chamber, the camera assembly comprising a camera module having a camera that is configured to capture data associated with the chilled chamber,
wherein the controller and the camera module are each configured to respectively perform one or more operations of an authentication process to verify identity of the controller and the camera module, wherein the authentication process comprises operating the camera to capture an image of an interior portion of the chilled chamber, the image comprising a defined feature of the interior portion of the chilled chamber, the defined feature being indicative of a location of the camera with respect to at least one of the chilled chamber, the interior portion of the chilled chamber, or the defined feature, and
wherein the camera module is configured to operate the camera to capture the data associated with the chilled chamber based at least in part on verification of the identity of the controller and the camera module.
