1. A laser lever comprising:
a mechanism housing, the mechanism housing comprising a top, a bottom, a first side between the top and the bottom and a second side between the top and the bottom, the second side opposite the first side;
a motor in the mechanism housing;
a controller in the mechanism housing;
a laser projector at the top of the mechanism housing, the laser projector configured to project a laser beam onto a surface;
a first protective structure associated with the top of the mechanism housing;
wherein the first protective structure comprises a first flange at the first side and a second flange at the second side;
wherein the first flange is generally parallel to the first side;
wherein the second flange is generally parallel to the second side.
