1. A hand vacuum cleaner comprising:
(a) an air flow path extending from a dirty air inlet provided at a front end of the hand vacuum cleaner to a clean air outlet;
(b) a motor and fan assembly provided in the air flow path; and,
(c) a cyclone bin assembly comprising a cyclone chamber positioned in the air flow path and a dirt collection chamber exterior to the cyclone chamber, the cyclone chamber has a cyclone air inlet, a cyclone air outlet, a cyclone chamber front end, a cyclone chamber rear end, a cyclone chamber sidewall extending between the front and rear ends of the cyclone chamber and a cyclone axis of rotation that extends in a forward/rearwards direction, the cyclone bin assembly having a lower wall extending between a front end of the cyclone bin assembly and a rear end of the cyclone bin assembly,
wherein, when the hand vacuum cleaner is oriented with the dirty air inlet above a forwardmost end of the lower wall of the cyclone bin assembly, the lower wall of the cyclone bin assembly extends at an acute angle between the front end of the cyclone bin assembly and the rear end of the cyclone bin assembly whereby the front end of the cyclone bin assembly has a front height in a direction transverse to the cyclone axis of rotation that is less than a rear height of the cyclone bin assembly in the direction transverse to the cyclone axis of rotation and a front end of the dirt collection chamber has a front height in the direction transverse to the cyclone axis of rotation that is less than a rear height of the dirt collection chamber in the direction transverse to the cyclone axis of rotation.
