1. A tracheal tube comprising:
a conformable conduit forming a respiratory passage sized to transfer respiratory gases to a patient;
a helical inflatable lumen formed in or on an interior surface of the conformable conduit, wherein the helical inflatable lumen is closed at a distal end such that fluid transferred into the helical inflatable lumen causes the helical inflatable lumen to expand in diameter, causing the conformable conduit to assume an expanded configuration, wherein the helical inflatable lumen terminates in an annulus encircling a distal end of the conformable conduit; and
a connector coupled to a proximal end of the conformable conduit in fluidic communication with the respiratory passage,
wherein the respiratory passage is fluidically isolated from the helical inflatable lumen.
