1. A method of culturing cells, comprising:
culturing ex vivo an isolated population of cells in a medium comprising four or more components selected from the group consisting of elcatonin, forskolin, insulin-transferrin-selenium, MGCD-265, JNJ-7706621, SB203580, SU5402, somatostatin, TGFβ, and a serum replacement for a period of at least 6 hours.
