1. A method of performing intra prediction of a current block of a picture of a video sequence, the method being performed by at least one processor, and the method comprising:
receiving video data including a source video sequence; and
encoding pictures of the source video sequence into a coded video sequence, wherein the encoding comprises:
setting a first flag indicating whether an intra prediction mode corresponding to the current block is a directional mode;
based on the first flag indicating that the intra prediction mode corresponding to the current block is the directional mode, setting a second flag indicating whether the intra prediction mode is a decoder side intra mode derivation (DIMD) mode; and
based on the second flag not indicating that the intra prediction mode is the DIMD mode:
setting a third flag indicating an index of the intra prediction mode in an allowed intra prediction modes (AIPM) list; and
performing the intra prediction of the current block, using the intra prediction mode corresponding to the third flag.
