1. A device, comprising:
a memory device to store samples of an electrocardiogram (ECG) signal; and
a microcontroller coupled to the memory device, the microcontroller configured to:
assign a first portion of the samples to a first data segment based on a first segmentation feature, wherein the first segmentation feature comprises a first sample attribute used to designate a respective sample of the samples of the ECG signal as belonging to the first data segment or not belonging to the first data segment, the first sample attribute being indicative of a relationship between sample value and at least one defined signal level;
assign a second portion of the samples to a second data segment based on a second segmentation feature, the second portion of the samples comprising an R-peak of the ECG signal, wherein the second segmentation feature comprises a second sample attribute used to designate another respective sample of the samples of the ECG signal as belonging to the second data segment or not belonging to the second data segment, the second sample attribute being indicative of a second relationship between sample value and the at least one defined signal level; and
compress at least the first portion of the samples, wherein the first portion of the samples assigned to the first data segment have a higher degree of data compression than the second portion of the samples assigned to the second data segment.
