1. A method to determine a state of health of a battery and charge the battery via charging circuitry, wherein the battery includes at least two terminals, the method comprising:
(a) applying an electrical signal to at least two terminals of the battery;
(b) from the battery's response to the electrical signal, determining a change over a plurality of charge-discharge cycles, as the battery ages, degrades or deteriorates, in (i) an available stored charge in the battery for a given measured voltage, or (ii) a maximum amount of charge that is capable of being stored in the battery; and
(c) based at least in part on the available stored charge or the maximum amount of charge as determined in (b), adjusting one or more characteristics of a charging process for the battery.
