1. A radiation shielding material for shielding radiation, the radiation shielding material comprising:
a main body having communication air holes, the main body being made of a base member constituting a three-dimensional reticulate skeletal structure; and
a metal having radiation shielding capability, wherein the radiation shielding material has moisture permeability through the communication air holes, wherein the metal is applied to the base member by the steps of:
roughening surfaces of the base member;
allowing a catalyst to be absorbed by the roughened surfaces of the base member; and,
forming layers of the metal on the surfaces of the base member using a plating process.
