1. A computer-implemented method for improving accuracy and efficiency of database auditing, the method comprising:
analyzing a table, list or index of a database to identify metadata;
storing said identified metadata and a recorded data image, if any, in a structured audit log associated with a record or row identifier of a record or row of said analyzed table, list or index of said database;
storing a pointer in said structured audit log to link a query of said record or row of said analyzed table, list or index of said database to a previously executed query of said record or row of said analyzed table, list or index of said database; and
retrieving auditing information from said structured audit log in response to matching a row or record identifier associated with a query to audit said database with said record or row identifier associated with said structured audit log.
