1. A metal detector for detecting at least one metallic object exposed to a detection magnetic field, the metal detector comprising:
at least one reception coil arranged to receive a magnetic field signal, called reception signal, which is representative of at least one modification of the detection magnetic field under the influence of the at least one metallic object, the reception signal, comprising at least one detection channel of given bandwidth, each detection channel being associated with a separate detection frequency, fD, and
at least one sampled-architecture receiver which is coupled to the at least one reception coil,
wherein,
the at least one sampled-architecture receiver comprises a first sampling device of non-quantizing type, called first sampler, which is configured to sample the reception signal or a signal that is a derivative of the reception signal, at a first sampling frequency, f1, in such a way as to
deliver a discrete-time signal, called first sampled signal, which, in the spectral domain, corresponds to a replica signal of the reception signal, or of the signal that is a derivative of the reception signal, and
frequency-transpose the reception signal, to a first intermediate frequency which is less than the separate detection frequency, fD.
