1. A medium feeding device comprising:
a feeder including a tray on which a medium is loaded, a feeding roller that conveys the medium loaded on the tray, and a separation board that separates the medium from another medium loaded on the tray by sandwiching the medium with the feeding roller;
a medium detection sensor that interacts with the medium to detect the presence of the medium fed by the tray, the feeding roller, and the separation board; and
a processor that sets a priority as to which one of a position setting of the separation board and a feed speed of the feeding roller will first have its feed setting changed in response to detection of the medium by the medium detection sensor at a first time, and wherein
the processor changes the set feed setting priority so that one of the position setting of the separation board and the feed speed of the feeding roller will first have its feed setting changed in response to a change in the detection result of the medium detection sensor detecting the medium at a second time while the feed setting is being changed.
