1. A seat belt retractor mounted in a mounting space formed in a backrest of a seat installed in a vehicle, the seat belt retractor comprising:
a spindle module including a webbing and a spindle having an outer surface on which the webbing is wound,
wherein the spindle is disposed in the mounting space along a front-rear direction of the vehicle corresponding to a thickness direction of the backrest such that a rotational axis of the spindle is substantially parallel to the front-rear direction of the vehicle.
