1. A golf bag comprising:
a collapsible chassis configured to receive golf clubs therein, the chassis having a rigid top portion and a rigid base with sidewalls therebetween; and
a foldable stiffening rod comprising three detachable rod sections, the foldable stiffening rod configured to engage a portion of the top portion of the chassis and the base of the chassis when the stiffening rod is fully extended with the detachable rod sections secured together to separate the top portion and the base and extend the sidewalls to hold at least a portion of the sidewalls taut such that the top portion and the base are cantilevered from the inserted stiffening rod, the foldable stiffening rod comprising a resilient shock cord that extend through the three detachable rod sections to hold the detachable rod sections together when the sections are detached from each other and to place tension on the three detachable rod sections when the rod sections are attached together; and
a rod guide integral to an interior surface of the sidewalls near a midpoint of the chassis through which the extended stiffening rod is insertable.
