1. A method for generating a treatment plan for a radiation treatment delivery planning system, the method comprising:
receiving or obtaining, with the system, a set of patient imaging information regarding a patient;
receiving or determining a target geometry of a target based on the set of patient imaging information; and
upon initiation of treatment planning, automatically generating, utilizing programmable instructions recorded on a memory of or accessed by the system, a treatment plan based on the set of patient imaging information and the target geometry based on the set of patient imaging information without requiring any user input treatment plan parameters or constraints,
wherein upon the initiation of treatment planning without any prior user input of treatment plan parameters or constraints, the system automatically generates the treatment plan utilizing inverse planning; and
wherein upon initiation of treatment planning after user input of one or more treatment plan parameters or constraints, the system automatically generates the treatment plan utilizing, at least in part, forward planning based on the one or more treatment plan parameters or constraints previously input;
whereby the system accommodates differing approaches of treatment planning according to a clinician's preference.
