1. A method for assembling an endoscope, the method comprising:
providing an exterior housing including a circumferential side wall, a proximal opening, and a first stop surface, the cirumferential side wall including an internal surface surrounding an interior space of the exterior housing;
providing an interior housing part including a closure wall, an attachment surface extending proximally from the closure wall, and a first tolerance compensating member extending distally from the closure wall, the first tolerance compensating member including a first light source seat, the closure wall comprising a closure surface and an interior surface opposite the closure surface and forming a cavity;
providing a camera assembly including a holder, a first light emitting diode, a second light emitting diode, and an image sensor, the holder comprising an upstanding guide portion;
aligning the upstanding guide portion of the holder in the cavity formed by the closure wall of the interior housing part to center the camera assembly in the cavity;
aligning the first light emitting diode distally of the first tolerance compensating member;
positioning the camera assembly in the interior space of the exterior housing;
translating the interior housing part distally until the first light emitting diode contacts the first stop surface; and
adhesivelly bonding the closure surface of the interior housing part to the internal surface of the exterior housing.
