1. A method comprising:
obtaining, by a computing device, field data of user equipment (UE) devices for a group of cells covering a geographic area of interest during a time interval, wherein the field data includes signal strength measurements;
computing, by the computing device, cell boundaries for each cell of the group of cells based on the field data;
predicting, by the computing device, signal strength values inside each of the cell boundaries for a future time period;
computing, by the computing device, a cumulative overlap feature and a weighted signal strength feature within the geographic area of interest for each cell of the group of cells during the future time period;
generating, by the computing device, an energy consumption predictive model that applies the cumulative overlap feature and the weighted signal strength feature for the future time period; and
determining, by the computing device and based on the energy consumption predictive model, first cell boundaries that correspond to a reduced energy consumption needed to meet service requirements during the future time period.
