1. A system for communicating data in a distributed software-defined network (DSDN), including a plurality of DSDN nodes, the system comprising:
a DSDN source node configured to:
obtain data having a data protocol from one or more devices communicatively coupled with the DSDN source node, wherein the data protocol has a non-standard internet protocol (IP);
convert the data protocol into a standard IP to form a converted data having the standard IP, wherein the data having the standard IP include at least a destination node identifier configured to identify a first DSDN destination node among the plurality of DSDN nodes;
store a plurality of DSDN configuration rules;
select a first set of DSDN configuration rules corresponding to the first DSDN destination node from the plurality of DSDN configuration rules;
execute the selected first set of DSDN configuration rules to generate one or more communication paths comprising a first communication path;
configure the first communication path with the first DSDN destination node; and
transmit the converted data to the first DSDN destination node via the first communication path.
