1. A device comprising:
a processing system including a processor; and
a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processing system, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:
receiving an electromagnetic signal including a plurality of packets;
obtaining the plurality of packets from the electromagnetic signal;
storing a copy of the plurality of packets in the memory, resulting in a plurality of copied packets;
converting the electromagnetic signal to an optical signal including the plurality of packets;
splitting the optical signal into first and second optical signals, each optical signal including the plurality of packets;
converting the first optical signal by a first converter to a first converted electromagnetic signal;
converting the second optical signal by a second converter to a second converted electromagnetic signal;
sending a signal by a timing coordinator to the memory, to the first converter, and to the second converter, resulting in simultaneous release of a copied packet of the plurality of copied packets from the memory, a first packet of the first converted electromagnetic signal from the first converter, and a second packet of the second converted electromagnetic signal from the second converter;
performing a first comparison of the copied packet with the first packet to determine whether the copied packet and the first packet are identical;
in accordance with determining the copied packet and the first packet to be identical, outputting the first packet in a first outgoing signal;
performing a second comparison of the copied packet with the second packet to determine whether the copied packet and the second packet are identical; and
in accordance with determining the copied packet and the second packet to be identical, outputting the second packet in a second outgoing signal.
