1. A battery separator, comprising:
a microporous polymeric film which comprises one or more layers; and
wherein at least one outer layer of the microporous polymeric film is an extruded layer formed by extruding a polyolefin with an additive comprising a polysiloxane, and at least 1% of a fatty acid salt having a melting point above 200° C., wherein the polysiloxane is an ultra-high molecular weight polysiloxane.
 
9. A battery separator, comprising:
a microporous polymeric film which comprises one or more layers; and
wherein at least one outer layer of the microporous polymeric film is an extruded layer formed by extruding a polyolefin with an additive comprising a polysiloxane, and a fatty acid salt having a melting point above 200° C., wherein the polysiloxane is an ultra-high molecular weight polysiloxane.
