1. A method comprising:
extracting, from a temporal log associated with a video, tool boundaries representing times of tool events corresponding to a selection, change, or use of one or more software tools in the video;
generating a representation of a hierarchical segmentation of a video timeline of the video using the tool boundaries; and
providing at least one level of the hierarchical segmentation of the video timeline for presentation.
