1. A method for producing polyol esters of at least one of 3-hydroxybutyric acid and acylated 3-hydroxybutyric acid,
wherein at least one compound of the general formula (I)
CH3—CH(OR1)—CH2—C(O)—O—C(O)—CH2—CH(OR1)—CH3   (I)
wherein, in the general formula (I), the radical R1 represents an acyl group selected from an acetyl group of formula —C(O)—CH3 and a propionyl group of formula —C(O)—C2H5,
is reacted with at least one polyol (II) comprising at least two hydroxyl groups, optionally followed by hydrolysis of the acyl groups,
so that, as a reaction product (III), one or more polyol esters of at least one of 3-hydroxybutyric acid and acylated 3-hydroxybutyric acid are obtained.
