1. A method of manufacturing a medical component, the method comprising:
molding a first member of the medical component from a first elastomeric material, the first member including a first end defined by a closed base wall, a second end that is open and that opposes the first end, an exterior sidewall extending between the first end and the second end, and an inner sidewall projecting from the exterior sidewall in a direction away from the closed base wall, wherein the closed base wall, the exterior sidewall, and the inner sidewall define a recess configured to receive a first portion of at least one electronic device;
positioning the first portion of the at least one electronic device within the recess of the first member such that a second portion of the at least one electronic device is exposed outside of the recess of the first member; and
overmolding the second portion of the at least one electronic device and the first member with a second elastomeric material to encapsulate the at least one electronic device and the inner sidewall of the first member and to form the medical component with the at least one electronic device embedded therein.
