1. A probe apparatus, comprising:
a shaft having a distal end;
a tube comprising a thermoplastic material, the tube being fixed to the distal end of the shaft and having an inner diameter and an outer diameter that have been reduced through a heat shrink process such that the inner diameter is less than 150 microns;
unbound powder granules of ferrite contained within the inner diameter of the tube;
a coil disposed around the outer diameter of the tube; and
electrical wires connected to the coil so as to read out a signal generated across the coil due to an externally-applied magnetic field, wherein the electrical wires comprise twisted pair conductors.
