1. A method of operating a communications-enabled application on a mobile device, the method comprising:
the application detecting a need for data transmission when the mobile device currently has a data communications status which is incompatible with the need, wherein the need is characterized by one or more required parameters of a respective cellular network data communication session; and
the application sending to on operating system (OS) a request to activate a secure profile for the cellular network data communications session, wherein the secure profile is preconfigured on the mobile device and enables the one or more required parameters
wherein sending the request to activate the secure profile starts the cellular network data communications session, and wherein the request is informative of the one or more required parameters related to at least one of: type of data to be transmitted and/or received, volume of data usage, duration of the session, destination address of the session, and accessible services.
