1. A system comprising:
a) a processor; and
b) a computer memory having a non-transitory storage media, the computer memory storing one or more instructions, which when implemented, cause the processor to
i. determine a first size for a maximum transmission unit (MTU) for messages traveling in a first direction along a flow;
ii. determine a second size for a maximum transmission unit for messages traveling in a second direction along the flow;
iii. send messages in the first direction of a size that is based on the first size; and
iv. send messages in the second direction of a size that is based on the second size.
