1. A controller for a power converter, the power converter including: i) a rectifier configured to receive an alternating current input signal and output rectified half waves, ii) an output capacitor, and iii) a current control device coupled between the rectifier and the output capacitor,
wherein the controller is configured to control the current control device such that:
for a first condition (I), a first part of a respective rectified half wave of the rectified half waves starting from a beginning of the respective rectified half wave is provided to the output capacitor up to a first maximum current value via a minimum on resistance setting of the current control device;
for a second condition (II) after reaching the first maximum current value, a current provided to the output capacitor from the respective rectified half wave through the current control device is gradually reduced;
for a third condition (III) after the gradually reducing, the current provided to the output capacitor from the respective rectified half wave via the current control device is gradually ramped up to a second maximum current value; and
for a fourth condition (IV) after the second maximum current value is reached, a last part of the respective rectified half wave ending with the end of the respective rectified half wave is provided to the output capacitor via the minimum on resistance setting of the current control device; and
wherein the controller, in the third condition (III), is operative to control the current control device based on an output voltage of the rectifier and at least one voltage value of the output capacitor during the second condition (II).
