1. An apparatus for detecting a specular surface in a scene, comprising:
an illumination device configured to emit polarized light towards the scene;
a polarization filter configured to generate filtered light by filtering one or more first reflections of the polarized light; and
an imaging system configured to:
capture a first image of the scene based on unfiltered light comprising one or more second reflections of the polarized light, and
capture a second image of the scene based on the filtered light; and
processing circuitry configured to determine a presence of the specular surface in the scene based on a comparison of the first image and the second image.
