1. A method comprising:
obtaining, by a computing system, a first image to be processed;
extracting, by said computing system, a face from said first image by determining a region of said first image that comprises said face;
labeling, by said computing system, said face with an identifier that is associated with a subject to whom said face belongs;
verifying, by said computing system, that an identity established by said identifier matches a nominal identity that is associated with said first image;
determining, by said computing system, a cropping region and/or a masking region for said face;
determining, by said computing system, that said cropping region and/or said masking region includes pixels for which no value exists in said first image;
resizing and/or shifting said cropping region and/or said masking region to lessen a number of the pixels;
expanding, by said computing system, said first image by synthesizing the pixels that fall within bounds of said cropping region and/or said masking region for which no values exist in said first image; and
applying, by said computing system, said cropping region and/or said masking region to said first image, so as to produce a second image that is representative of a subset of said first image with at least some synthesized pixels.
