1. A gas chromatography-ion mobility spectrometry (GC-IMS) system, comprising:
a GC column comprising an inlet and an outlet;
a sample delivery system in fluid connection with the inlet of the GC column and configured to provide a sample to the GC column, wherein the GC column is configured to process the sample and produce a processed sample at the outlet;
an IMS tube comprising:
a sample inlet in fluid communication with the outlet of the GC column;
a wall comprising an orifice; and
an outlet, wherein the sample inlet is configured to receive a portion of the processed sample;
a main pump comprising an inlet and an outlet, wherein the inlet of the main pump is in fluid communication with the outlet of the IMS tube, and wherein the main pump is configured to pressurize the gas exiting the IMS tube and produce pressurized gas at the outlet of the main pump; and
a gas delivery system connected to the outlet of the main pump and configured to deliver a first portion of the pressurized gas and the sample from the outlet of the main pump into the GC column and a second portion of the pressurized gas into the IMS tube via the orifice,
wherein the IMS tube is configured to analyze the second portion of the pressurized gas.
