9 Claims

1. A method for recovering a fluorinated surfactant from an aqueous or mixed aqueous organic solution containing the fluorinated surfactant, the method comprising:

contacting the aqueous or mixed aqueous organic solution with a zeolite having a zeolite framework, the zeolite framework consisting of tetravalent cations and oxygen, wherein at least a portion of the tetravalent cations are tetrahedrally coordinated framework atoms, the zeolite comprising pores delineated by rings that comprise from 10 to 14 of the tetrahedrally coordinated framework atoms, the tetrahedrally coordinated framework atoms being selected from the group consisting of Si⁴⁺, Ge⁴⁺, Ti⁴⁺, Sn⁴⁺, Zr⁴⁺, and Hf⁴⁺.
