1. A method of operating a motor vehicle having a steering control and a drive system operable to selectably drive wheels in a drive mode and in a reverse mode, the method comprising:
the drive system monitoring the steering control while driving in a first direction;
the drive system offering a driver a change from one of the drive mode and reverse mode to the other of the drive mode and reverse mode based on the steering control; and
the drive system changing from the one of the drive mode and reverse mode to the other of the drive mode and reverse mode in response to an approval by the driver of the offered change.
