1. A system for illuminating and targeting a plant in a field, the system comprising:
a lighting array comprising a plurality of lights, wherein the lighting array is configured to illuminate a region of interest in the field to reduce or eliminate shadows in the region of interest, and wherein the region of interest includes the plant; and
a detection system comprising:
a camera configured to obtain an image of the region of interest, wherein the image depicts the plant,
one or more processors configured to determine a target location of the plant in the region of interest based on the image of the region of interest obtained by the camera, and
a light source configured to emit a light beam toward the target location of the plant to damage or kill the plant.
