1. An exercise machine for enhancing physical fitness of a human subject, said machine comprising:
a) a rigid frame;
b) an electrical motor attached to said frame, said motor having a motor shaft;
c) a microprocessor having inputs and outputs, in effective electrical communication with said motor sufficiently for selective control of the direction of rotation, speed of rotation, and torque output of said motor;
d) a primary cable drive system attached to said frame;
e) a secondary cable drive system attached to said frame; and
f) at least one tertiary cable drive system attached to said frame,
each of said primary, secondary, and tertiary cable drive systems comprising a cable having a first end and a second end,
wherein the first end of the cable of said primary cable drive system is effectively mechanically-connected to the shaft of said motor, and the second end of the cable of said primary cable drive system is attached to said frame, and
wherein at least one pulley of said secondary cable drive system is directly attached to at least one pulley of said primary cable drive system, and
wherein at least one pulley of said at least one tertiary cable drive system is directly attached to at least one pulley of said secondary cable drive system, and
wherein the first end and the second end of the cable of said secondary drive system both comprise a resistance access point; and
wherein said pulleys by which the tertiary cable drive system is attached to the secondary cable drive system are mobile pulleys.
