1. A self-contained breathing system comprising:
a face mask;
an air tank for storing and delivering pressurized air;
a pressure reducer for reducing the pressure of pressurized air delivered by the air tank to a breathable pressure, wherein the pressure reducer comprises a pressure reducer input port that is in communication with an air tank outlet;
an alarm system comprising an alarm system inlet that is in communication with a pressure reducer outlet, wherein a first air path connects the pressure reducer outlet to the alarm system inlet, and wherein the alarm system further comprises an alarm system outlet; and
a second air path in communication with the alarm system outlet and the face mask;
wherein the pressure reducer comprises a primary pressure reducer configured to work at a primary air pressure and a secondary pressure reducer configured to work at a secondary air pressure or upon a failure of the primary pressure reducer; and
wherein the alarm system is configured to provide a detectable alarm upon receiving air from the secondary pressure reducer.
